When thinking about the "self" concept regarding literature I thought mostly about how a reader can begin to make the text their own, or find their own meaning from the text, and not necessarily follow the author's point of view or other readers' points of view. Also from the author's view, making a writing able to reach more than just their self and their own point of view has to be the task in order for their story/book/piece of writing to reach more than just themselves.
In regard to myself, I think the term self can relate to many things. Basically anything that makes me, describes me, or something I think about. This is obviously a wide range of things, which makes the definition of my own "self" to be ever changing, and not set in stone. Each day can influence my "self" in a different way, cause me to have different thoughts, or even begin to form a completely different self than the one from the day before. "Self" can be me now, yesterday, or even twenty years from now, and hopefully something a little different is in that definition each and every day.
